About

Hi, I’m Shauna.

The quote above is by Carl Sagan. I like to picture him saying it right before disappearing mysteriously into the night.

I got my BA in psychology in 2007. I’ve scanned brains, collected spit, and chased around monkeys, all in the hope of better understanding the human mind. I haven’t worked in a psych lab in a few years now, but I try to keep up to date in the field. I’ve been focusing a lot lately on reading and understanding critiques of the scientific publishing process.

I’m also very interested in government transparency, and have been organizing meetups in the Boston area. Feel free to join our meetup page and/or google group.

I’m also do a fair amount of writing, teaching and programming.

Right now I work at the MIT media lab, on a project to create context-aware environments. The hope is that this technology can be used to save energy and to improve people’s health. The project will be ending in a few months, and I’m on the lookout for a new direction to go.

In my spare time, I like to bake birthday cakes for my friends, and play way too many board games for my own good.
